Awards Season Movie Review: She Dies Tomorrow

she dies tomorrow15 minutes into this movie I could tell that some people were absolutely going to hate it. I am definitely not one of them.

Amy is suddenly hit by the utter conviction that she is going to die tomorrow. Unsurprisingly this causes her a great deal of distress so she calls her friend Jane. Without giving too much away, this sense of certain doom is spread to her, and then outward from there. As it spreads further, we see how the different people in their orbit react to it, and also in flashbacks see how it got to Amy. Those looking for a clean resolution or easy answers will not find either here. Instead we get a swirl of absurdist humor, unsettling atmosphere, and malaise. It’s a genuinely chilling look at how a toxic idea can spread if left unchecked, that manages to be doubly upsetting during a pandemic. ★★★★ – Sean Farrell
